“Golden Shah” – the Cherry on Top of the Exhibition

For many years now, the “InterFood Azerbaijan” exhibition has proudly hosted the traditional International Culinary Championship “Golden Shah 2025”, organized by the “Azerbaijan Culinary Specialists Association.” Around 40 teams and over 300 chefs take part in the championship. The judging panel includes licensed chef-judges from the “World Association of Chefs’ Societies”, representing 16 countries.

One of the exhibition’s signature events is a guided tour of the expo, specially organized for the championship’s participants and judges. Local producers’ goods consistently attract the attention of culinary professionals and are often used in their gourmet creations.

According to Nikolay Baratov, an honorary judge of the championship: “The ‘Golden Shah’ Championship is one of the main events of the exhibition — truly the cherry on top. I’m very impressed by the Azerbaijani organizers. In just a few short years, this championship has evolved from a national competition into an international tournament. That’s a huge achievement. Well done, everyone!”

Mr. Baratov also shared his thoughts about the exhibition: “Every year, the exhibition keeps improving, attracting more and more prominent participant companies. As a culinary professional, what I appreciate most is the strong presence of Azerbaijani agro-industrial products. I can see that our Azerbaijani chef colleagues have plenty to work with. There are high-quality, natural ingredients — and that’s the most important thing for a chef. Because you can’t create something good out of nothing. A good chef will find everything they need at this exhibition.”
