On May 8, the 19th Azerbaijan International Agriculture Exhibition Caspian Agro Week, the 31st Azerbaijan International Food Industry Exhibition InterFood Azerbaijan, and the 14th Caspian International Exhibition “Everything for Hotels, Restaurants and Supermarkets” Horeca Caspian concluded their work at the Baku Expo Center. A total of 447 companies from 45 countries participated in the exhibitions. The events were organized by “Caspian Event Organisers” together with its partners “Caspian Event Management” and “ICA Events”.
On May 5, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, and their daughter Leyla Aliyeva visited the Expo Center and viewed the leading displays of domestic and international producers of agricultural and food products. Among the notable international participants were the stands of companies such as Azersun Holding, Agro Dairy, Holmer, New Holland, PhosAgro, Azera, Favo Agro, Industrias David, AFI Projects, and others.
For many years, these exhibitions, as a reliable and recognizable national brand, have earned a prominent place in the global exhibition calendar, becoming one of the world’s leading international events. The exhibitions brought together major players in the agricultural and food industries, local and foreign specialists, as well as thousands of professional visitors, including importers, exporters, distributors, representatives of wholesale and retail trade, and farmers.
The Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan provided organizational support to the exhibitions, which serve as an effective platform for promoting the “Made in Azerbaijan” brand, and participated with its own stand showcasing information about projects aimed at developing the agricultural sector, state support mechanisms, digital solutions, and innovative approaches.
One of the organizers’ innovations this year was that Caspian Agro was held under the new concept of “Caspian Agro Week,” covering areas such as agricultural machinery, facilities and equipment, irrigation systems, packaging, logistics, e-agriculture, innovative technologies, livestock breeding, poultry farming, crop production, veterinary services, and waste processing.
The Smart Agro section of the exhibition included categories such as Artificial Intelligence, Smart Village, Startups, IT Services, Robotics, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and Green Agro. During the exhibitions, sector presentations and master classes were organized in the presentation zone of the Baku Expo Center as part of the “Food & Agro Talks” platform.
InterFood Azerbaijan showcased products and services in areas such as the food industry, beverages, fruits and vegetables, food technologies, and more. Within the framework of the exhibition, a “Retail Center – Retail Chains Meeting Center” operated for participants and invited companies.
Alongside international participants and local companies, the regions of Azerbaijan were also actively represented at this year’s exhibitions. Visitors were introduced to the agricultural and food potential of various regions of the country.
In the presentation zone of the exhibitions, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a number of forums, conferences, and bilateral business meetings (B2B and B2G) were held. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on strategic cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan and John Deere Walldorf International GmbH, as well as the Charter of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), also took place there.
For the first time within the framework of Caspian Agro Week and InterFood Azerbaijan, a “Hosted Buyer” program was organized to create the most effective and comfortable working conditions for buyer visitors participating in the exhibitions.
Visitors also showed great interest in the “WomenSpace: Food, Communication, Mentorship” event and the exhibition of chocolate art installations.
Every year, the organizers arrange exhibition tours for farmers from different regions of the country. This year, more than 500 farmers from 51 regions had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with
the latest industry innovations and the international experience of companies producing high-quality agricultural products using modern equipment and innovative solutions.
An important part of the exhibition’s accompanying program was the National Culinary Championship “Golden Shah.” This traditional competition was organized by the Azerbaijan Culinary Specialists Association (ACSA) with the support of the State Tourism Agency and the National Culinary Center, in partnership with the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (Worldchefs).
The main purpose of the championship is to contribute to the development of gastronomy and, in general, promote Azerbaijan as a destination for gastronomic tourism. The competition aims to improve the qualifications of local chefs through international experience and to familiarize foreign specialists with the methods of preparing Azerbaijani national cuisine.
Teams from Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Serbia, Russia, Belarus, Croatia, Romania, and Ukraine participated in the championship. The jury included internationally certified Worldchefs judges from the USA, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, Germany, and other countries.
The exhibitions are supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Food Safety Agency, the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA), the Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers’) Organizations, the Azerbaijan Food and Beverage Industrialists Association, and the Azerbaijan Exhibition Organizers Association.
